KOUE BOKKEVELD TRAINING CENTER
HELLO SEPTEMBER: GROW, INSPIRE, AND CELEBRATE
September was a remarkable month at the Koue Bokkeveld Training Centre, filled with new opportunities, growth, and meaningful moments. We are proud to have presented our first-ever First Aid course in Xhosa - an important step towards making training more accessible and inclusive.

We also celebrated Men's Day, acknowledging the valuable role men play in our communities, workplaces, and families. Additionally, our mobile phone photography workshop was successfully held, where participants learned new skills to capture the world through the lenses of their phones.

We look forward to the Xhosa Leaders' Day and much more. Read on to find out about everything that happened in September and what lies ahead.
KBOS PRESENTS FIRST IN-HOUSE FIRST AID COURSE IN XHOSA
Following various strategic visits to members over the past year, a need was identified to make legally required training, such as First Aid, more affordable and accessible. One of the proposals was for KBOS to investigate the possibility of offering First Aid Level 1 training in-house for Xhosa-speaking students.
In August, KBOS reached a significant milestone when the first First Aid Level 1 course in Xhosa was presented by one of our in-house facilitators, Naledi Rampone. This achievement represents not only a major step forward for mother-tongue instruction but also highlights KBOS’s growing capacity to deliver quality training internally.
A total of 42 participants attended and successfully completed the course across two groups. The positive feedback received confirms the value of training delivered in participants' mother tongue, as it fosters understanding and participation.
This course marks just the beginning of a broader initiative. KBOS plans to offer even more courses in-house in the future. This will not only save costs but also reduce the need for interpreters and make training more accessible to our members.
MEN'S DAY: A DAY OF HERITAGE, LEARNING, AND TOGETHERNESS
What a remarkable day! 654 men gathered to celebrate our heritage, enjoy each other's company, and  of course have a great braai during our Men's Day!
One of the key takeaways from the day was the important role we play as parents. Our children observe how we live, how we conduct ourselves, and how we treat others. As a parent, you are your child’s first and greatest teacher. Every word, decision, and action can serve as an example that they carry with them.
Another powerful message was that your current circumstances, or where you come from, do not have to determine where you are headed. Your past can be part of your story, but it does not have to be the end of it. There is always room to grow, make new choices, and build a different future.
Men's Day reminded us that true heritage is about more than just where we come from; it is also about what we choose to leave behind today.
